Description | Taken from inside the Army Marine Training Division, 4,000 meters from the hypocenter. Kimura Gonichi (then 41 years old), who was working in the yard, was pinned under the stable when the atomic bomb exploded. He crawled out of the stable and ran to the photo studio to retrieve his camera (Mamiya Six) and took three pictures of the mushroom cloud. This is the second of the three pictures he took. The photo was taken looking up from the edge of the old factory building on the Division, so part of the lining of the eaves is in the photo. |
