Description | Taken from inside the Army Marine Training Division, 4,000 meters from the hypocenter. Kimura Gonichi then (41 years old), who was working in the yard, was pinned under the stable when the atomic bomb exploded. He crawled out of the stable and ran to the photo studio to retrieve his cameras (Mamiya Six) and took three pictures of the mushroom cloud. This is the third of the three pictures he took. The mushroom cloud was so large and spread out that only a portion of it could be captured in the finder. The white semi-circle at the top is the so-called umbrella part of the mushroom cloud. |
