Description A solider with symptoms of radiation poisoning (hair loss, hemorrhagic spots on skin, ulcer on tongue). He was 33 years old at the time. He was explosed to the atomic bomb in the yard of Infantry First Reserve (Chugoku 104 Corps), 1 km from the hypocenter and developed a lumbar contusion. On August 6, he experienced vomiting, and he had fever until August 8. On August 20, it was discovered that he was losing his hair. On August 27, his fever returned, and blood spots appeard on his skin. On August 29, an ulcer on his tongue enlarged, he had severe pain in his gums, and he began to urinate blood from early in the morning. On August 30, more blood spots appeared, and he died at 12:30 on September 6. The barracks of First Infantry Reserve, located on the east side of the main enclosure of Hiroshima Castle, were destroyed by the blast, and many soldiers were pinned under the rubble. Soon after, the barracks were engulfed in flames.
