Description Looking southeast from near Sorasaya Shrine. This area near the hypocenter, which was packed with small factories and wooden houses, was completely destroyed by the bomb's heat, blast and fire. In the left foreground, near the remains of what appears to be a burnt pine tree, is the area in front of Sorasaya Shrine. From the back left, the Chiyoda Insurance Hiroshima Branch, etc.; to the right, Hiroshima Prefectural Commerce, Industry and Economy Association (today’s Hiroshima Chamber of Commerce and Industry), the Norinchukin Bank Hiroshima Branch etc.; to their right, the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall (Atomic Bomb Dome) and Honkawa National Elementary School.
