Description | Looking west from the south column at the entrance of the Hiroshima Gas Company head office on Ote-machi Street (east side). The company decided not to resume operations at its completely destroyed head office and put up a wooden sign at the entrance announcing its relocation to a temporary office: "Temporary office in Minami-machi factory. Hiroshima Gas Co., Ltd." In September 1945, the new president Mr. Fujino's house, which had not burned, was used as the company's head office for restoration efforts, and in April 1946, gas service was resumed to the remaining 235 households in the city. |
