Description Hiroshima Station. Looking north-north-east from the south. In April 1943, a second floor was constructed at the station overhanging the carriage entrance in front of the main entrance. The second floor provided a waiting room and a ticket office. The building however collapsed due to the A-bomb blast. The main building’s roof caved in, was malformed and damaged. Because of a spreading fire, the station building was burned down and the roof collapsed, causing numerous deaths and injuries. Railway service on the Ujina Line resumed August 7, the line between Hiroshima and Yokogawa resumed on August 8, and the Sanyo Line and the Geibi Line resumed on August 9. On August 10, a shack was hurriedly built as a station office. Rear left is Mt. Futaba. Rear right is Mt. Onaga.
