Description | In front of Hiroshima West Police Station, a reinforced concrete utility pole escaped breakage, collapse and fire. The photo was taken as a record for Chugoku Haiden (present-day Chugoku Electric Power Company) . The West Police Station was located at 1-chome, Ote-machi, an area closest to the hypocenter. The two-story wooden building of the police station was burned down without a trace. Including Sashiro Matsumoto, the then chief of the West Police Station, all police officers died, having experienced the atomic bombing at close range. |
