Description | Honkawa Bridge, which collapsed from the atomic bomb's blast. Residual materials of houses, blown off by the blast, and Honkawa Bridge's steel truss float around the edge of the bridge on the Honkawa River's right bank (Tsukamoto-cho). On the right, one of the bridge's central pillars is leaning, and the street light on top was broken off and lost. The bridge, which was loved as a new landmark in Hiroshima, collapsed from the blast on its west side, and only a small portion of the girder was left in the east side. The water pipe attached to the bridge was broken, rendering it unable to supply water. |
