Description A temporary cremation site built on the remains of demolished buildings on the downstream side of the east end of the Sumiyoshi Bridge. Cremation was carried out using rice straw, a few pieces of wood, and oil. In order to increase the intensity of the fire, the top was covered with tin sheets. Many human bones remain uncollected in the straw ashes. The site cremated the bodies of those who died at the relief station as well as corpses floating in the Honkawa River and other places.
