Description | Looking southwest from the ruins of the Hiroshima Prefectural government building. The wooden government building was instantaneously destroyed by the atomic bomb and burnt to the ground. Many of the prefectural government employees were either killed instantly or burnt to death after being buried under the debris. The unburnt chimney of the Hiroshima Prefectural Hospital can be seen in the back, with no buildings in between. |
