Description View from east to west. The national government's special committee including Shuji Aihara in a meeting in front of the large torii gate of Hiroshima Gokoku Shrine on their first day in Hiroshima. The granite stone lantern was burned by heat rays on the side facing the hypocenter causing a sharkskin condition on its surface. On the opposite side, heat rays left a shadowy burn mark (A-766,767,768,769). It served as one of landmarks to calculate the location of the explosion.
