Description | Hondori shopping street (around KIRIN Beer Hall), from east to west. The central road is Hondori shopping street (old Sanyo road, Saigoku Kaido). From the left: Shimomura Clock Shop, and the Hiroshima branch of Yasuda Bank. On the far side of the street are the Hiroshima branches of Imperial Bank, Sanwa Bank and Yasuda Life Insurance Company. On the right is the Hiroshima branch of Obayashi Cooperation, the Hiroshima branch of Sumitomo Bank and the head office of Geibi Bank. The Shimomura Clock Shop's first floor was crushed and a rooftop structure fell to the south because of the blast. By this time, life for the citizenry had gradually recovered and people had begun to venture out to the city center. |
