Description From Saikumachi Street, looking east. Around the entrance of the collapsed Shima Hospital. The hospital was completed in 1933 and was a two-story brick building with distinctive round columns and circular windows on both sides of the entrance. However, the building was completely destroyed and incinerated along with about 75 patients and staff by the A-bomb, which detonated 600m in the air above. From the left: the Hiroshima branch of Chiyoda Life Insurance Company (the chimney in front of the branch is Otemachi hot spring), the Hiroshima branch of Yasuda Life Insurance Company, and the Hiroshima branch of Norinchukin. Shima Hospital is in the center.
