Description | The interior of Ono Army Hospital. Words on the blackboard read “List of patients as of the 18th.” What appear to be medicine bottles are scattered on the floor. The hospital began taking in and providing treatment to many patients shortly after the bombing. A relief station was set up at nearby Ono-nishi National Elementary School, and first-aid teams were dispatched to Hiroshima City. On September 10, a survey team from the Faculty of Medicine at Kyoto Imperial University visited the hospital to help treat the wounded and study their symptoms. The hospital was destroyed in a mudslide caused by the Makurazaki Typhoon on September 17. Many people were killed, including inpatients, staff, and members of the survey team from Kyoto Imperial University. |
