Description | The interior of Ono Army Hospital. The hospital began taking in and providing treatment to many patients shortly after the bombing. A relief station was set up at nearby Ono-nishi National Elementary School, and first-aid teams were dispatched to Hiroshima City. On September 10, a survey team from the Faculty of Medicine at Kyoto Imperial University visited the hospital to help treat the wounded and study their symptoms. The hospital was destroyed in a mudslide caused by the Makurazaki Typhoon on September 17. Many people were killed, including inpatients, staff, and members of the survey team from Kyoto Imperial University. |
