Description The interior of Ono Army Hospital. The pillars lean to one side due to damage from a mudslide. A large amount of earth and sand has flowed into the interior. Pasted on the wall is an imperial edict relating to the behavior of soldiers. The hospital began taking in and providing treatment to many patients shortly after the bombing. A relief station was set up at the nearby Ono-nishi National Elementary School, and first-aid teams were dispatched to Hiroshima City. On September 10, a survey team from the Faculty of Medicine at Kyoto Imperial University came to the hospital to treat the wounded and study their symptoms. The hospital was destroyed in a mudslide caused by the Makurazaki Typhoon on September 17. Many people were killed, including inpatients, staff, and members of the survey team from Kyoto Imperial University.
