| Description | A mother and child leaving a temporary relief station are pushed on a handcart by the father. The two on the cart were exposed to the atomic bomb while engaged in building demolition to create fire breaks, and they suffered severe burns to the face, legs, and arms. The father was trapped under their collapsed house but was rescued by his neighbors. This is one of the photos published in the Asahi Shimbun Osaka edition on September 4, 1945, soon after the end of the war ended, to report on the damage inflicted on human bodies by the atomic bombing. |
