The burnt ruins in the center of the photo are the remains of the 1st Supplemental Infantry Regiment's wooden barracks. The mountains in the background are, from the left, Mt. Futaba and Mt. Onaga. In the center are the remains of the Chugoku Military District Ordnance Department Armory, which was completely destroyed and burned down. The woods to the right is Shukkeien Garden; in the foreground, the ruins of a turret and the inner moat can be seen. |
