Description Hiroshima Station, looking from the south to north-northeast. In April 1943, an overhanging second floor was built over the approach to the main entrance to attach a waiting room and ticket window, but it collapsed from the bomb’s blast. The roof of the main building was pushed down out of shape and damaged. The station building burned in the ensuring fire and the roof collapsed, causing many casualties. The Ujina line reopened the day after the bombing, August 7, the line between Hiroshima Station and Yokogawa Station on August 8, the Sanyo main line and Geibi line on August 9. A temporary station office quickly rebuilt by the August 10. Mt. Futaba is in the left background. Many figures can be seen in front of and inside the station.
