To the left in the rear is Honkawa National Elementary School, Hiroshima Gokoku Shrine's Worship Hall is in the center, and the main shrine was to the rear on the right. A torii gate, which stood almost 330 meters directly north of the hypocenter, facing east, collapsed to the west. Most stone structures such as the stone lanterns, the guardian dog statues, fences and the torii gate were knocked down by the blast, but the stone marker with shrine’s name, on the right, remained standing. Many shadowy burn marks by the heat rays were left on those stone structures and used in order to locate the point of the detonation and the hypocenter. |
