| Description | In the foreground is a collapsed torii gate to the west by the blast. To the left rear is a collapsed stone lantern, which has fallen in the opposite direction of hypocenter. Still standing in the center of the frame is a stone poll marker inscribed with the shrine’s name. The strong blast and pressure from the explosion created a momentary vacuum, and winds blew wildly like a whirlwind, not in a one single direction. In the rear are the ruins of Hiroshima Castle with no trace of the military-related facilities; only withered trees remain. |
