From the downstream side of the west end of Motoyasu Bridge (Nakajima-honmachi), looking east. Motoyasu Bridge is located almost directly beneath the A-bomb’s detonation point, and it was hit by the blast from nearly directly above. Its parapets on the upstream side fell into the upstream side of the river, and all parapets on the downstream side dropped into the downstream side of the river. Each of the main pillars' hibukuro (where one would light the stone pillar's fire), either dropped, or were shifted to the left or right. |
